When tragedies like the Trestle Trail Bridge occur, Lenz said faith helps find strength, and he is impressed with the strength Erin Stoffel found in coping with her loss. "You can be all in this faith thing and not be a weirdo fanatic." "So many youth are thinking faith is just for parents and grandparents," he said. ![]() Right now, he said 18 percent of youth are at Sunday services in America, and he wants to change that. His talk Saturday night will focus on youth involvement in churches. Groups like Coggins' are an important age group for Lenz. "It's 'I helped make this happen and I know what it means for this to be put on.'" "It helps give them a little bit of ownership and see what goes on behind the scenes," he said. In addition to the day pass they receive for working a five-hour shift, Coggins said they learn valuable tools to use in their future. The project went over well last year, and he plans to bring them back again this time around. The drug- and alcohol-free environment on the grounds encouraged Coggins to bring his youth group, whose mission is to do a service project every month, to volunteer at Lifest. Lifest is a chance for him to discover new bands in the Christian rock genre and support them. Jeremy Coggins, youth pastor at Sunnyview Christian Church in Oshkosh, said he enjoys Lifest because of the artists who perform. "We like to cater to all ages and all genres." "We have an artist for pretty much anybody who listens to Christian music," she said. While these attractions are a huge draw to attendees, Schneider said the bands and music continue to be the highlight of the weekend. Schneider said they confirmed Packers wide receiver Jared Abbrederis is speaking Saturday night with Lenz. In addition to the 26 featured artists and speakers, Schneider said the grounds have special areas for youth leader seminars, a kid zone for younger festival-goers that was revamped into a mini vacation bible school and, new this year, a 50-foot Ferris wheel overlooking the grounds.Īnd Green Bay Packers fans won't be disappointed, either. Bree Schneider, marketing coordinator for Life Promotions - the group that organizes Lifest - said it has a little bit of everything to offer for all ages.
